Ventos do PiauĂ Complex - Brazil

Overview

VTRM Renewable Energy 2 represents a transformative wind energy project in Brazil, encompassing the installation and operation of the Ventos do PiauĂ Complex. This complex, consisting of 7 wind power plants, serves as the pioneering phase in a series of renewable energy installations aimed at bolstering Brazil's sustainable energy portfolio. Through its operation, VTRM Renewable Energy 2 is set to achieve a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by offering an alternative to fossil fuel-based electricity generation. With an estimated annual average GHG emission reduction of 439,950 tCO2, the project stands to deliver a total GHG emission reduction of 4,399,508 tCO2 over its crediting period. During this particular monitoring period, it has already generated a reduction of 482,465 tCO2e, contributing to Brazil's environmental sustainability efforts and aligning with global climate action objectives.

The objective of VTRM Renewable Energy 2 extends beyond the mere production of clean energy; it is about reshaping the energy landscape by integrating renewable sources into the Brazilian National Interconnected System (SIN). This transition to renewable sources is a strategic move towards mitigating the environmental impacts associated with traditional energy generation and steering the country towards a low-carbon future.
