    About The Carbon Stamp

The Carbon Stamp is a UK carbon consultancy working mainly with small and medium-sized businesses. We measure organisations' greenhouse gas emissions, prepare the Carbon Reduction Plans required for public sector contracts under PPN 006, and support suppliers responding to NHS and corporate carbon requirements.

Alongside our consultancy work, we build and run our own software, including a Supplier Engagement Portal, employee and company carbon surveys, and client carbon dashboards. These tools are central to how we keep our work accurate and efficient to deliver.

We are a small, founder-led team working fully remotely across the UK, supported by a network of specialists in supply chain analysis and sustainability reporting.

    The role

Small and medium-sized businesses are increasingly expected to account for their carbon emissions by their customers, public sector buyers and investors, yet very few have anyone in-house with the expertise to do it. We fill that gap. We work directly with SMEs, predominantly in the UK and increasingly internationally, acting as their in-house sustainability consultant: the people they rely on to understand their emissions and decide what to do about them.

Client service is our first priority. Every client should feel that we know their business, respond quickly and give advice that fits their circumstances rather than a generic template.

As a Carbon Reporting Associate or Consultant, you will measure, manage and reduce emissions for our clients. You will calculate their footprints using our systems and in strict alignment with the GHG Protocol, then produce reports and Carbon Reduction Plans written specifically for each client. The standard of the work must be high, and it must be delivered efficiently. This client work makes up the majority of the role.

Between 20% and 40% of your time will go on building and improving the processes behind that work, across the full client lifecycle: how we collect data, the experience clients have while working with us, and how we deliver the final reports and plans. You will research where each stage can be better and put the changes in place.

    What you'll be doing

    Client delivery

    • Acting as a main point of contact for our clients, responding promptly and building long-term relationships
    • Collecting, checking and organising client activity data across energy, fuel, travel, waste and procurement
    • Calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions using the GHG Protocol and current DESNZ conversion factors
    • Writing carbon footprint reports and Carbon Reduction Plans, including PPN 006 plans, specific to each client's business
    • Presenting results to clients and explaining practical reduction options
    • Managing several engagements at once and keeping clients informed of progress

Product and process development (20–40% of your time)

    • Reviewing every stage of how we work with clients, from first contact to final report, and finding where it can be simpler, faster or clearer
    • Redesigning how we collect data, so clients spend less time gathering information and we receive it complete and correct the first time
    • Researching how clients experience working with us, through feedback, conversations and how they use our tools, and turning what you learn into specific improvements
    • Improving how we deliver final reports and reduction plans, so the results are clear and easy for clients to act on
    • Looking at how other consultancies and software products handle onboarding and data requests, and bringing the best ideas back to us
    • Putting improvements into practice through our Supplier Engagement Portal, carbon surveys and client dashboards
    • Documenting and refining our processes and calculation methodology as they change

    What we're looking for

You will need hands-on carbon accounting experience. Beyond that, we care about how you work: real drive, ownership of your results and the ambition to help build a business that sets the standard for carbon reporting in the UK.

    • Hands-on experience calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with the GHG Protocol, in a consultancy or in-house sustainability role
    • Experience producing client-ready carbon reports, such as footprint reports or PPN 006 Carbon Reduction Plans
    • Strong spreadsheet skills and confidence working with large or incomplete datasets
    • Drive and ownership: you go beyond what the role asks without being told
    • You pick up new systems and tools quickly, and work out the right approach rather than waiting for a rule book
    • Curiosity about how processes and client experiences could be better, and the initiative to act on it
    • Clear, concise written English suitable for client-facing reports
    • Strong, everyday use of AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to improve your work, for example cleaning and structuring client data, drafting report sections and automating repetitive analysis, with the judgement to check the output carefully
    • The ability to manage your own workload in a remote team

    Desirable

    • Experience with SECR disclosures or ISO 14064-1 inventories
    • Knowledge of Scope 3 screening and spend-based calculation methods
    • A track record of improving processes, data collection or the customer journey in a previous role
    • Familiarity with SQL, Python or no-code tools

    Associate or Consultant

We will appoint at Associate level for candidates earlier in their career who already have some hands-on carbon accounting experience, and at Consultant level for candidates who can lead client engagements independently. Please apply to the same role either way; we will discuss the right level with you.
